Daphodils and roses

This weekend we went to the Missouri Botanical Gardens with Daphne.

I've been wanting to document my little gal with pictures among flowers, and I figured we better do it before the St. Louis heat and sun scorches everything. Plus Saturday and Wednesday mornings it's free admission, so who can argue with that?

I can hardly tell you how totally excited I am by how it all worked out. Even if we only got the pictures below, it was such a nice trip. I have a feeling this might be a usual occurrence.

Plus, they have the most kick-ass playground for kids... I can hardly wait for her to be able to run around here. It's the kind of playground that you wish you were three years old so you could fit in all the fun places.

We took as many pictures as we could. But, our little diva does know how to tell us when she's had enough. Check out this picture of the "talk to the hand, Mom". It's totally an "enough already" picture and I love it!

Happy 1st Father's Day

Happy 1st father's day, Bobby.

From that first cry, you have shined in your role as Daphne's Daddy.

No one will dispute that you were born for this role.

You are two peas in a pod, and it's safe to say that all those who know you are looking forward to watching you grow with fatherhood.

You are so gentle and so obviously adore your little princess.

Sometimes you push your limits, but I don't think she minds...

It is obvious that you're a natural at fatherhood.

We are very blessed to get to share this time with you.

I think it's fair to say that you get a thumb's up for being a great daddy. We love you, Bobby.

Love, your girls,
Kelly and Daphne Jane

The Gospel according to Daphne

This is a little delayed, but this past weekend Daphne was Dunked in the Catholic Church. It was a very nice ceremony where the priest, Fr. Bill Kempf, that married Bobby and I was able to baptize our little girl.

Daphne was able to fit into my Bonnet, but we did get her a new gown for the event. Although she wasn't the happiest to start, Fr. Bill's calming voice and presence brought her to attention and she hung in there for about 2 hours.

(Pictured: Bobby, Kelly, Charlie-pants, Godfather Matt, Daphne, Godmother Lisa and Fr. Bill)

What a trooper! It's as if the halo was formed right away ;-)

Nicknames

For only being 4 months old- our girl's laundry list of names is getting impressive. Aside from the obvious nicknames of DJ (for Daphne Jane) and Daph (just when we're lazy), she's starting to accumulate a pretty nice little list.

She's known as:
Daphne Cakes

Daphne Duck
(please note her cute little duck outfit- thanks to Mary :-))

Our Sunny Little Daphodil (thanks to Gi-Gi)

(this picture was taken when she was about 8 weeks old, doesn't she look SO little?!)
Finally, and I don't know where they get this one but... Cheeks or Chubby Cheeks (thanks to Daycare)

Just a few of the many to come.

Love Affair

Daphne is having a love affair with her twenty closest... phalanges...

She discovered her toes about 3 weeks ago, and hasn't really let them go since.

And that's not to say that she has lost her appreciation for her lovely, little, succulent fingers.

Not even I can distract her from these little lovers.
